14th INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL OF KERALA

The inaugural ceremony of the 14th International Film Festival of Kerala was held in December 11, 2009. The ceremony was celebrated in Nishagandhi auditorium. The eve was blessed with the presence of the great Bengali filmmaker Mrinal sen, along with the guests of honour. And Sharmla Tagore was the special guest. She has came to IFFK for the first time. The next day started of all movies.The films are played at Trivandrum theatres. I saw nineteen films and some films are I didn’t like. But the 14th IFFK was my first film festival. So I was enjoyed in maximum and it was a golden opportunity for me.

TRUE NOON

Director : - Nosir Saidov

I like it this film because it is differentiated with other films. The film is interesting but it is keep the suspense till in the end. The film True Noon won the audience prize. True Noon tells the story of two villages. This small two villages staying on a side of a bonds. There all villagers are known each other A young village girl, Nilufar is engaged to Aziz from the other village. Suddenly there comes a barbed wire border to separate the villages. There is a powerful scene that the teacher taken class at the border, the children on both sides are learning. Finally, Nilufar crossed the border to married her Aziz. The basic theme is that the historical conflict between Tajiskistan and Uzbeskistan.

TREELESS MOUNTAIN

Director:- So Yong Kim.

In the frist day of festival I had seen the movie ‘Treeless Mountain’. The story was two sisters life. So yong kim has made a touching film about the loneliness of children in a world that neglected. The two little sisters are Jin and Bin are forced to stay with their alchoholic Big Aunt in a small town for the summer. Their mother go looking for their extraged father. She gave a piggy bank with a promise that she will return when it is full. When the Big Aunt loses her house and their mother fails to return. Jim and Bin are move to a farm owned by their grand parents. Inspired by her grandmothers determination and hardwork Jim taking care of her sister. Jim and Bin soon enter into another world of life. This film was touching story and emotionally film. Whenever, I had seen this film I remembered my daughter. That two sisters have lose of hopes and curiosity in their life.

KERALA KAFE

Director :- Ten Directors

Producer :- Renjith
Kerala Kafe was an Indian and Malayalam film. The film producer was Renjith. He is an excellent director of malayalam film industry. This film was very great other than films. This is a compilation of ten different short films directed by ten different directors. The ten short films are Nostalgia, Island express, Lalitham Hiranmayam, Mrithyunjayam, Happyjourney, Aviramam, Season, Bridge, Maghal, Puram kkazhagal. The audience claps goes to these stories are Mrithyunjayam, Maghal and puramkkazhagal. Revathy’s maghal was the touching story of this film. Also the Bridge was extreme stroy of this film. The film begins and ends in kerala cafe from where we move on to the first story, and it’s there that it all ends, thus weaving a connection of sorts between the ten shorts.

MASANGELES

Director :- Beatriz flores Silva
The story begins when Mesangeles mother commits suicide. Mesabgeles is Aurelio Saavedra’s illegtimate daughter. Aurelio is forced to take the seven year old girl home with him. His wife Aurora deos not recover form this blow. Mesangeles quickly understands that her only chance at survival would be to adapt to the situation. The country is falling apart in a civil war between untrained guerillas and cruel army. Mesangeles discovers her half brother Santiago’s secret passageway. She realizez that Santiago has joined the guerillas. Increasingly infatured with him. She ends up seducing him. Santiago is sought after by the military and has to flee and mesangeles discovers that she is pregnant. On the day santiago was arrested. In the truck in which he is transported, explodes in front of his family house, setting in oblaze, at the very moment mesangeles is deliver her baby, the house is about to explode. The is diffrentiated with other films because silvas film deals with war, agony, romance, political and above all
the struggle for survival. The ilm has been included in to competion section.

THE DAMNED RAIN

It was a Indian film and it was an award film. Damned Rain is a emotional film. When I had
seen this film Iam very emotional. The Damned Rain story is in the vidarbha village of
Maharashtra, there farmers are suicides. There it is not a long ceased to make news. Kisna
and his wife Alka lives n the village. There the village farmers are distressed. So she was lives
under the fear that her husband is also on the verge of a suicide. So she keep watchful on her
husband with help of her mother in law and her son. Shw even ropes their son to be with him and report of any irregularities in his behaviour. Kisna continous to struggle his farmers work
but he cannot success in his work. Unfortunately, he cannot go on his future. Kisna was
committed to suicide like all farmers. It was good film. It is a marathi film.
